Who is this course for?

Is this course for me?

This course will look at a large part of veterinary nursing, which is highly rewarding but not taught to us - hand-rearing neonates.

Whilst hand-rearing can be daunting to consider and is indeed very hard work, it is gratifying and can be very beneficial to your patients.

This course aims to give you the building blocks of how to hand rear various species, when veterinary intervention may be needed and if specialist help should be sought.

All our courses include small bitesize videos with an accompanying workbook, so you don't have to write a single word (unless you want an excuse to get your stationery out 😉)

  • How is this course presented?

Our courses are more than just a webinar.

You will be taken through easy to digest bitesize chunks of learning, via a series of informative tutor video presented slides.

Research shows, that online learning knowledge is easier to retain and absorb if video content is used rather than just audio, which is easier to just switch off from and become distracted. This way you can have a human connection to your tutor which is so important.

Instructor(s)

RVN CPD Speaker Laura Owen BSc (Hons), RVN

I qualified as a Vet Nurse in 2010 and started working in a first opinion practice. In 2011 I qualified as a clinical coach and in 2014 I decided to continue my studies and started a part-time course to get a BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Nursing, whilst I was working in practice. I have stayed in first opinion practice and also worked in a dedicated out-of-hours clinic. I thoroughly enjoy my work as a ward nurse and getting to know the clients and their pets. I started working very closely with Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary in 2014. I quickly became their hand rearer, due to the unique position I had of being able to take animals to work with me. In 2019 I also started working with the Blue Cross as an email Bereavement Support Advisor, and I enjoy helping people understand their feelings over the loss of their pets.
