I have worked in the veterinary profession for over 25 years both in the private and corporate sector, and I have undertaken lots of roles within the industry both in a nursing capacity and in administration finally moving into management in 2007.
Since then I have gained level 3 and level 5 diplomas in Management and Leadership, level 3 diploma in Human Resources and I am currently undertaking a my level 5 HR qualification
I am a current member of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)
It never ceases to amaze me how after all these years in practice there is still so much to learn and how the industry is constantly changing and I realise how important it is to change and improve along with this, especially in a supervisory role.
Practice Managers are becoming a vital part of the veterinary team, much more than previously, especially in the corporate sector, allowing the clinical team to do what they do best without the stresses and strains of everyday challenges.
The role of Practice Manager is as varied as they come and no two days are ever the same, and there always seems to be a need for more information no matter how long you have been in practice. I am looking forward to sharing information and knowledge that I have collected over the years and hope to keep learning more as I do so.
